Mornington Peninsula
A 300-metre walk from the seashore, project Peninsula, is located one hour south of inner Melbourne. The project’s architectural objective is to withdraw one’s experience from hectic city life to quiet residing in a seaside suburb within the Mornington Peninsula. This objective is achieved by engaging with the location’s Australiana indigenous flora which was the precursor to the complimenting master materiality for both the exterior and interior palette. The architectural form and floorplan took inspiration from an old native Australian gum to the front (north) of the property which instinctively set the dwelling back to the rear, creating a non-traditional site map that ensured focal living spaces drenched by a northerly light source.
